Acute ozone (O3) exposure causes lung inflammation via effects on alveolar macrophage (AM脴) function. Published data has described the integral role of AM脴s in homeostasis, inflammation, and resolution responses following acute O3 exposure; however, there is a gap in the understanding of function dictated by ontogeny. This work aims to further understand both the specific AM脴 populations involved in resolution of environmental lung injury as well as the mechanisms driving these responses.
