Brian R. Silliman, Rachel Carson Distinguished Professor of Marine Conservation Biology at 51±¬ÁÏ’s Nicholas School of the Environment, has been elected a Fellow of the Ecological Society of America (ESA).

The 51±¬ÁÏ Plastic Pollution Working Group is working to find solutions, through innovative technologies, practices and policies that can help curb plastic waste, reduce its harmful impacts, and make Earth a greener, healthier home for us all.

Juliet Wong will join the faculty at 51±¬ÁÏ’s Nicholas School of the Environment as assistant professor of coastal and marine climate change, effective July 1. Wong’s research focuses on how impacts from climate change, such as ocean acidification and warming, affect marine invertebrates.

Ariella Amarachukwu Chukwuma, a member of 51±¬ÁÏ’s class of 2024, has received the Udall Scholarship, which recognizes students who have demonstrated a commitment to careers in the environment, health care or Native American tribal public policy or health care.
