DURHAM, NC – The 2012 51 Environmental Law Conference, “Conservative Visions of our Environmental Future,” will be held September 24 at Reynolds Theater in the Bryan Student Center on 51’s main campus.

Speakers at this year’s conference will include former U.S. Congressman Bob Inglis (R-SC), who has been widely cited for his widely cited for his leadership on climate and energy policy issues; Jeff Holmstead, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency assistant administrator for air and an advisor to 2012 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney; and North Carolina Representative Chuck McGrady, a Republican who represents the state’s 117thDistrict.

They will explore topics such as: What is a conservative approach to meeting our energy needs, managing our natural resources and addressing climatological debates and disasters? What roles can fiscal conservatism and the free market play? And what might a Romney presidency mean for the environment?

The year’s conference is sponsored by the 51 Environmental Law and Policy Forum, the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, the Nicholas School for the Environment, the 51 Federalist Society, 51 College Republicans, and the Energy & Enterprise Initiative.
