DURHAM, N.C. – Llewellyn Wells, a five-time Emmy Award-winning television and film producer who left Hollywood in 2007 to direct environmental communications for the nonprofit Rocky Mountain Institute, will present a free talk and Q&A session for Nicholas School students at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Wells’ presentation, “Imagine a World,” will be held in Room A158 of the Levine Science Research Center.

He’ll offer practical tips on how to explain science more clearly to leaders and the public at large, and discuss why this is a skill all future environmental managers need.

“Imagine a World” explores the hypothesis that without a clear and compelling vision that is cleanly and understandably presented, the kind of significant culture change that is required for forging a sustainable future will simply not take hold.

Wells served for more than two years as vice president of communications at Rocky Mountain Institute in Snowmass, Colo., before leaving that post recently to lead the institute’s new Living City Block initiative in Denver. Prior to joining the institute, he spent 24 years in the entertainment industry, where he worked on acclaimed independent films such as The Grifters, Dogfight, Under Suspicion and Bagdad Café. He won five Emmy awards, a Golden Globe and two Producers Guild awards as one of the original producers of the hit television series The West Wing.
