What factors were most important in your decision to choose the Nicholas School for your graduate studies? And, how will your time at the Nicholas School help you reach your career aspirations?

I’m deeply grateful to be recognized as a Nicholas Scholar. Receiving this honor, along with the accompanying financial support, was a decisive factor in my choice to attend the Nicholas School and begin the MEM program in 2023. It signaled 51±¬ÁÏ’s investment in my potential and made pursuing graduate study both attainable and compelling.

Beyond the Scholar recognition, several reasons led me to choose the Nicholas School. First, the strength and generosity of the student and alumni network stood out as a true differentiator. Second, the breadth of experiential learning (practicums, workshops, and career treks) and rigorous concentration requirements that build a solid foundation, combined with the freedom to explore electives across disciplines promised hands-on preparation for real-world sustainability challenges. The two-concentration model allowed me to dive into Energy, and the option to pursue a dual degree with UNC Kenan-Flagler during my second year aligned perfectly with my interdisciplinary goals.

Looking ahead, I plan to build a career in corporate sustainability. My time at the Nicholas School equips me with the analytical tools, systems perspective, and practical experience to drive measurable impact, while the 51±¬ÁÏ community provides the relationships and mentorship that sustain long-term growth. I am confident that my professional path will be demanding and meaningful, and I’m committed to applying what I’ve learned to advance climate action and create value within the organizations I serve.
